Magnificent

Despite what you may think, music defines us. It reflects so much of who we are. What if we all had background music that followed us around. Everywhere you go there is a melody playing as you went about your day. For example...

The naive 20 something blonde girl would have Katy Perry playing

The 40 something successful business man would have Miles Davis

The mid 20s boy masquerading as a man would have a mix tape, because he isnt sure who he wants to be yet.

Bon iver - Justin Vernon is my all time favorite artist.
If I had to chose one musician to play as the background music as I went about my life would be Bon iver.  His new album released today and its amazing. I didn't think it could get any better...
Its magnificent

I am thinking of doing a giveaway again
How about a mini session for FREE!
All you have to do is these three things-

1: Become a follower of this blog.
Feel free to share the link

2: Become a fan on my facebook page.
Be sure to say hello

3: Leave a comment with who would you have playing as your background melody.
 Seriously, tell me

Good Luck!!!!

B

I've been reading your blog forever, but hadn't followed it yet! Oh background melody, that would mean I would be able to hear it over the noise of my kids right? I'd like to say Regina Spektor, her songs comfort my heart and make me happy.

Rod Stewart - Some guys have all the luck.

Hey!! I'm super stoked! You inspire and add so much beauty to the world.

If I can only choose one, my playlist would consist of Dave Matthews because he brings out the hippie in me, and his sexy raspy voice just makes me giddy. His words write what I feel. And he his dancing just makes me go wild!!

I like to call him my boyfriend, my dream boyfriend....

Hello- Love your work. I blog stalk you often.
If I had a soundtrack, PINK would have written it. Sounds wierd, and a little punkish for my style, but she has follwed my anger through my divorce my confusion of finding myself, and the love I found that I have always wanted- its like she knows my life and how it has gone, cant wait to see where she takes me!

Ashlee said...

well i already follow your page and your blog :) my background music would probably be a mix tape... because depending on my mood it would be a very different tune, today it would probably be Matt Nathanson with a little Joshua Radin mixed in love them!

I have been a fan on facebook for awhile now, and from there started reading your blog. I am addicted and now a follower! I love music as well, so it is hard to just pick one, but since I have to choose it would be Coldplay. I even walked down the isle to them, and they are amazing live!

I have been a facebook follower for a few months and a blog stalker for much longer . . . I adore your work and the way you bring out the best in people with every photo. If I could have a soundtrack to my life, it would have to be an album by Rogue Wave or The Shins.

Mary + Trey said...

I have stalked your work forever, I have already contacted you about taking some fabulous pictures of me and my hubby... but I would love this even more.

The soundtrack to my life would be Ace of Base "The sign" ... one of the greatest songs ever written. Its about moving on, and realizing how amazing you are as an individual.

Stephanie said...

I think I would have the Beatles 'Good Day Sunshine' playing. It makes me happy every time I hear it and if it were playing everywhere I went I would be in a great mood all the time.

The 500 days of Summer soundtrack perfectly fits me. Some old stuff, some new, lots of upbeat, some more mellow, and some Morissey to make life right. But let's face it I usually have show tunes playing in my head highlighting my life.

Amy said...

This is so hard! I'd have to say Maroon 5 or One Republic. My love of different artists, songs, etc come and go but these 2 groups are consistently on my iPod. Listen to Good Life by One Republic. My fav!!

Kacie said...

I follow your blog! We are BFF's on facebook :) And my music that fits my mood most days is Ellie Goulding! But with a little Adele, Amy Lee, Dave Matthews, Breaking Benjamin, Lady Antebellum, and the list goes on and on and on:) Big on classical music too the piano and violin get me everytime:)

That's a tough one! Adele or Jack Johnson, maybe? Something cool and relaxed but enough pep to make you happy and energized.

I'm not sure if you need an individual comment for each but I've done all three. =)

Bon Iver is one of my all time favs too. I've been dying waiting for the album to come out on iTunes. I used to walk to school in the snow listening to blood bank and Re: Stacks and think of it as background music. I also really would love SIA to follow me around.

Sheesh I would love to win. But uh.. pretty much impossible to narrow down to just one singer. It would definitely have to be a mix.

There are two albums that speak the most to me: Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd and Brothers by The Black Keys. That would be the background music for my life :)

Lauren Ricci said...

I think I would choose a song instead of an artist and it would probably be Straylight Run's Existentialism on Prom Night because it's one of my constants and describes so many of my moods. It's difficult to choose just one song though when so many are able to warm my heart and soothe my soul in different ways.

PS I linked you to a blogpost a few weeks ago here... http://thericcilife.blogspot.com/2011/06/there-have-been-some-random-thoughts.html

Hi Brooke,

I love reading your blog, it is so refreshing. It would be a dream to have you take pictures of me/my family. Anyway, whenever I read your blog I hear of new artists or bands that I have never heard of and I love that. I feel a little embarrassed that I love music but I only seem to know the real popular stuff. I would say Norah Jones or Jewel.

I have to say I love your blog! I adore the music you post and am so envious of your style its not funny. I'm sad that I missed the giveaway, but appreciated the question. It took me a few days to figure out, I was pretty stumped. But then it hit me like a ton of bricks. Mumford and Sons would be my soundtrack. The banjo is by far my favorite instrument and I love how talented they are. Their lyrics speak to me for some reason. Anyway, thanks for all the great blogging:)
